I am happy and honored to be hosting a giveaway for Jennifer Mathieu's upcoming YA, AFTERWARD, on my blog today. As someone who is a fan of emotional contemporary YA, I have a feeling this story will stay with me long after it's been read. Find out more details on the book below, and enter for your chance to win a signed ARC + a sweet swag pack of bookish goodies (all courtesy of the author).
About the book: A tragic kidnapping leads to an unlikely friendship in this novel about finding light in the midst of darkness from the author of The Truth About Alice.
When eleven-year-old Dylan Anderson is kidnapped, his subsequent rescue leads to the discovery of fifteen-year-old Ethan Jorgensen, who had gone on a bike ride four years earlier and had never been seen again. Dylan's older sister, Caroline, can't help but wonder what happened to her brother, who has nonverbal autism and is not adjusting well to life back home. There's only one person who knows the truth: Ethan. But Ethan isn't sure how he can help Caroline when he is fighting traumatic memories of his own captivity. Both Caroline and Ethan need a friend, however, and their best option just might be each other.

I love friendship books! The first that come to mind are Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson and The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky, but I could go on and on. Thank you SO MUCH for the chance! I LOVE Jennifer Mathieu's books! :)
ReplyDeleteOooooh Jennifer Mathieu! Her book, The Truth About Alice blew my mind and it was an amazing read for me. Glad that she has another book out. She is just awesome.
ReplyDeleteI admire the friendship in The Glittering Court by Richelle Mead. Despite their differences, the girls stick with each other and have each other's backs. I also love the relationship between the leads of The Darkest Corners by Kara Thomas. An amazing thriller, quite similar with Jennifer's Alice.
Also, thank you for the lovely giveaway! :)
I really love the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series by Ann Brashares. The girls have such a strong friendship and no matter how far they travel they always support one another.
ReplyDeleteI too love the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. There's also The Secrets of the Ya-Yas. While not a very happy portrayal, I loved the Burn for Burn series.
ReplyDeleteOh, I adore friendship in fiction.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite friendships in a movie/novel: Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants
In TV: Cory and Shawn in Boy Meets World, Fiona and Holly J in Degrassi, the girls in Pretty Little Liars
In Books: Between the three mains in Fans of The Impossible Life

ReplyDeleteI loved Blair and Serena's friendship in Gossip Girl. Sure it wasn't all perfect and they were on opposite sides a lot but it showed that you can fight with those you care about the most and when they were together it was the best friendhip!
ReplyDeleteI love the friendship between Buffy, Willow and Xander in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They're always there for each other and play such a big, important role in each others lives.
