My Top Ten Books I Recently Had To Quit

The longer I've been doing this book blog thing, I've learned that it is okay to put a book down if it's just not working for me.  There are way too many books out there, waiting to be read, to waste time on a story that just isn't my cup of tea.  Below is a list of books I attempted out of pure whim, some were recommendations, and others I had been meaning to read but kept putting off -- which should have just remained put off apparently, ha.

Have you finished any of these? What did you think of them?  I'm curious to know your thoughts.

1. Who Do You Love by Jennifer Weiner
2. Tonight the Streets Are Ours by Leila Sales
3. Rebound: A Boomerang Novel by Noelle August
4. Beautiful Secret by Christina Lauren
5. Second Position by Katherine Locke
6. Chasing River by K.A. Tucker
7. Sweet by Tammara Webber
8. Inspire by Cora Carmack
9. Trouble from the Start by Rachel Hawthorne
10. The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

  1. I'm so with you that it's pointless to force your way through books that just aren't working for you. Too many great books to enjoy to spend time on the ones that are just... meh. That being said, I am so surprised at some of your list! Who Do You Love - my friend has been raving about it and it's high on my TBR. Chasing River - I haven't read this one yet but K.A. Tucker is one of my favorite authors. Sweet - ditto with Chasing River. Haven't read this one yet but I *love* Tammara Webber. Sorry to hear these didn't work for you... but I guess they can't all be winners!

  2. I've only read Fill-In Boyfriend, which I did love. I mean I really loved it. Why didn't that one work for you? I've always been one to DNF a book if it wasn't working for me, though. There are so many books I haven't read, so I don't want to waste my time with a book that I'm not into. However, I may go back to abook when I'm in the right frame of mind.

  3. The only one I've finished is Chasing River and honestly it wasn't as good as the first two books. It wasn't bad however, I didn't feel that connection between the characters. Also (forgive me K.A. Tucker) it was kind of boring and I thought the MC was terribly judgmental. I wouldn't force yourself to read it but she has one final book in that series so maybe just skip Chasing River?

  4. I couldn't finish The Fill in Boyfriend, it had some great (sassy/sarcastic) lines, but in the end it felt too juvenile...for me maybe the writing style.

  5. Uh-oh. I see the one I recommended. I really thought you would like it. I'm sorry . . .
