This post is coming at the perfect time because I am at a cottage this week, and I just finished hosting a weeklong celebration of Emery Lord, one of my all-time favourite summer authors!
Summer is the time when my work life gets a little lighter, and I spend way more time at concerts, outdoors and in my kitchen making ice cream. This summer is a little busier, because it’s my husband’s and my first summer in our house, so we’ve been gardening like crazy, and trying to get little things like, you know, air conditioning installed (it is sweltering here)!
But we’re taking a break this week to hit up a cottage with family. I love this cottage because it’s right on the water, and there’s this awesome room that is literally just an enormous hammock where I like to read.
Here’s what I’m reading up there; check in with me this week and see if I succeeded!
Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson - when I’m away or traveling, I tend to pick my books based on where I’m going. I’ve been trying to read SCS, which is set at a cottage, for the last three years on a lake. THIS TIME IT WILL HAPPEN.
Lovestruck Summer by Melissa Walker - I re-read this book every summer - it’s a super fast read about music and learning to look outside your comfort zone in the heat of Austin. Total beach read.
Another Day by David Levithan - it’s not really a summer read, but I’m eager to see what Levithan does with Rhiannon’s side of the Every Day story.
The Wrong Side of Right by Jenn Marie Thorne - So many people have told me how good this contemp is about a girl who is suddenly thrown into becoming a presidential candidate’s daughter. I’m really excited to finally read it for myself (thank you, Toronto Library!)
Open Road Summer and The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord - Of course, I can’t write this post without featuring Emery Lord’s books, which I read/reread this summer. Emery’s books are perfect for reflecting about your friendships and summer romances. Oh Tiff, I love that you've picked Second Chance Summer to read while at the lake! I hope you've packed your tissues!!! Such an amazing story. YES to Melissa Walker's Lovestruck Summer. Such an awesome book to experience during the summer -- hoping your post today puts it on more people's radars, too. And of course I have to agree with your Emery Lord books. Definitely a favorite I'm seeing in this year's sweet summertime reads choices. Thanks so much for sharing your picks on my blog today & I hope you enjoy your vacation!!

And I haven't read any of those books :( I'll have to see the reviews to them ^^
Naga Sanctuary
Something different would probably be all the hiking trails. Vancouver is usually dubbed Raincouver so it's rare to get good weather to go hiking. Summer is the best time since the trails are dry and there are some challenging ones to do :D In the summer I like to read contemporaries. I'm reading Paper Town right now and it's pretty interesting!

Dietsch Ice Cream and the Root Beer Stand are musts in my home city of Findlay! It isn't summer until you've had a Spanish Dog from the stand! I'm re-reading Stephanie Perkins books this summer, as well as all of the ones listed above!
