Welcome to Sweet Summertime Reads! All summer long I will be featuring a different blogger to share their current summer reads + what's on their agenda for this summer. I hope you'll join me each week! Today, Rachel who also tweets from @astoldbyrachelk is here to share her summer reading lists + her summer plans that involve the beach, ice cream, and plenty of sunshine! Please welcome Rachel to the blog...
Hi everyone! I hope you all are having a fantastic summer! If the last few weeks has been indication, it’s looking to be a very hot summer where I live (though I’m definitely not complaining!). As a grad student, for me summer means catching up on all the pleasure reading I missed out on during the school year. The books I plan on reading this summer are a combination of gifts from friends, rereads, my own purchases from the past year, and of course lots of library books. Here’s what’s up for my next few reads:
Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen - Sarah Dessen will forever be one of my favorite authors. I’ve already read her books during the summer, so this is a definite must read for my summer.
Dead to Me by Mary McCoy - I’ve been wanting to read this one for ages, but just haven’t had the time. It’s all about Hollywood glamor and drama, which is always something I love.
Joyride by Anna Banks - A friend gifted this one to me. I adore Anna Banks’ writing and I’m quite excited to see how she writes contemporary YA!
Open Road Summer by Emery Lord - I’ve already read ORS twice, but it’s one of those books that only gets better every time.
The Story Hour by Thrity Umrigar - How gorgeous is that cover? This is an adult book that I’ve had on my radar this past year. I like variety in my reading, and I think this one will do the trick!
I’m lucky enough to live within walking distance of the beach, so if you’re looking for me, you know where to find me! And of course, it’s not summer if you don’t eat copious amounts of ice cream/frozen yogurt.
I hope your summer is filled with lots of books, tasty food, and sun!
xxx Rachel

It is a must to have the beach + ice cream + a Sarah Dessen book during summertime! I hope you're enjoying the nice, relaxing time to read this summer, Rachel. I can totally relate on how important it is to use these months off to unwind and recharge. Happy reading! Thank you for sharing your SWEET SUMMERTIME READS with us, xo.

I did not know that Anna Banks had a new book!!! I'm so there! I wish I had a beach close to me but I do have the Puget Sound and the famers market (still a beach would be so much better). I really love this feature. I like hearing about other books, other places, and fun summer things.
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting so many of these!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part about summer is the thunder and lightning storms! It's weird because when I was younger I was deathly afraid of them. But for whatever reason, now I love them and look forward to the spring/summer every year to have them!
ReplyDeleteI love the sun and the rainy days on summer.. also have time to read books :)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great feature, Ginger! I love it. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's the bad thing about school, you end up having to use what would be reading time as studying time or homework time and miss out on some books.
I have four of your five books, Saint Anything, Dead To Me, Joyride and Open Road Summer, all currently still unread. . . But I'm wanting to read Joyride and ORS before the fall, so hopefully that happens. I actually just saw Saint Anything in hardcover at Walmart and totally resisted buying it, though I was in awe of how pretty it looked in person. Minus that pesky Walmart sticker with the price on it. Lol.
I can't imagine how amazing it must be to live within walking distance to the beach! How lucky. That ice cream/frozen yogurt in that picture looks amazing! What kind are they?
Okay, something unique about the summers where I live…it is tornado warning season from late April to late September and it's horrible! Lol. I live in Kansas, so it's to be expected. It's very humid here as well, so it's just pretty awful all the way around. I plan on at least trying to read ORS, like I mentioned above, Like It Never Happened by Emily Adrien, and The Distance Between Us..
