As the year is winding down, it's a good time to reflect back on the amazing books I've encountered in 2014. Upon writing this blog post I've read 50 books this year, and out of those 50 I've given 14 of them 5 stars. That's A LOT of great reading!! To celebrate the books that had me falling in love with reading all over again, I want to give back to this community by giving away one of those 5 star reads.
(You may be wondering where the other 3 are... they're actually 2015 releases that I am planning to host a giveaway for in the coming year! For inquiring minds, they are: The Devil You Know by Trish Doller, The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord, and I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios. Stay tuned for those!)

There have definitely been so many fantastic new releases this year, but one of my absolute favourites would have to be 'We Were Liars' which absolutely shocked me, although 'The Winner's Curse' is definitely another one which is at the top of my favourites. I'd love to win 'What I Thought Was True' since it's been on my TBR so long and I can't wait to finally read something by Huntley Fitzpatrick! Thanks so much for the giveaway Ginger :)
ReplyDeleteEugenia @ Genie In A Book
I loved Jellicoe Road, then I fell in love with all the Melina Marchetta books! And I'd love to win To All The Boys I've Loved Before! Thank you for the giveaway. <3
ReplyDeleteIt's really hard to come up with just one for my favorite, but I'm going with Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng. I already own several of the ones you featured, but I don't have Open Road Summer, and would love to read that one.
ReplyDeleteYou read so many books that I've been considering myself in the New Year, including Open Road Summer, Twenty Boy Summer and To All The Boys, so there's a chance I'd choose one of those personally.. or maybe What I Thought Was True or Since You've Been Gone, their on my to-buy list too! Personally, I've been loving A.J. Pine this year, If Only and What If, and I have to say, Dangerous Girls and Cinder were great too. That and my soft spot for Tom Hoyle reads, oosh. Wonderful giveaway too hunny! :)
ReplyDeleteOoh, such a great list! My favorite of the year was I'LL GIVE YOU THE SUN by Jandy Nelson. I already read and loved most of these books, too, but I haven't read/don't own THE SOUND OF LETTING GO and it's definitely on my TBR, so that's what I'd pick!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite read this year was Heir of Fire by Sarah Maas! And I would love to win Open Road Summer by Emery Lord! Thank you for this amazing chance! :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book of the year so far is Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult . I would choose Since You've been gone by Morgan Matson.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite of the year was Fangirl! I'd probably pick Fixing Delilah -- I've loved Ockler's other books!

ReplyDeleteI really loved Red Rising, though I guess I actually read it a little early, in the summer of 2013. :) If I won, I think I'd pick Since You've Been Gone, since it's on my wish list!

ReplyDeleteIt's really hard to pick a favourite book, but I really loved To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han ( and of course the 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' trilogy ), Open Road Summer by Emery Lord ( starting to go insane anticipating The Start Of Me And You. I love her books so much ), and though not the latest, but to me still one of the best, One Night That Changes Everything and Open Road Summer by Lauren Barnhodlt and lastly The Ex's Games by Jennifer Echols. I would love to get a copy of Open Road Summer, because I really love romance books involving fictional celebrities, with a touch of humour. Favourite quote has got to be "Ladies and guys pretending to be gentlemen to get these ladies to go home with you, please welcome Matt Finch!"
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book of the year was a three way tie between The Winners Crime, The Kiss of Deception, and The Night Circus (which I read this year).
ReplyDeleteIf I were to win, I would be excited about all of these books! But I've never read anything by Gayle Forman or Morgan Matson so I'd be the most happy with those.
Wow... My favorite book this year? That's hard. Maybe Cress? Or Ruin and Rising? I did love Just One Night a TON. That's so hard!
ReplyDeleteIf I won your giveaway, I think I'd pick To All the Boys I've Loved Before. I've had my eye on that for a while. Thanks for the giveaway!

ReplyDeleteAnd I haven't read any of these yet! So many to add to my TBR list :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite book from this year is probably The Raven Boys or maybe Daughter of Smoke and Bone (I know, I'm way behind). I've heard so much good stuff about Since You've Been Gone, so I think I would chose that one if I won :)
I didn't actually read that much this year! Boo! HOWEVER, I read an entire manga series (Boys Over Flowers) and a handful of novels I liked. A Monster Calls was REALLY good. And... I'm having trouble remembering what I've read this year. Hahaha. You get the point. :D
ReplyDeleteFor what I'd want to win...: It's a tie between To All the Boys I've Loved Before and Since You've Been Gone. 👍
I can never pick favorite books but Since you've been gone might get the prize for 2014

OPEN ROAD SUMMER was excellent, and I love HOW TO LOVE. My number one book of the year will probably end up being Laurie Halse Anderson's THE IMPOSSIBLE KNIFE OF MEMORY, and from here, I would probably pick SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE. Thanks for the giveaway, and I need to read a bunch of these books!
ReplyDeleteI've read quite a few of these and loved them! The others - I either own them and are getting ready to read them or they are on my TBR list! :)

ReplyDeleteWe Were Liars by E. Lockhart — I read this in June and it’s still on my mind. It’s on many Best of 2014 lists for a reason!! This review by Parade.com says it best, “A rich, stunning summer mystery with a sharp twist that will leave you dying to talk about the book with a pal or ten.”
On the Fence by Kasie West — Loved this book. Four words: older brother’s best friend!
The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith — This book left me with the biggest “just finished a good book” high this year.

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins — This definitely was a happy ending for the Anna and the French Kiss Series.

There were many great books I read this year:
ReplyDelete- some of them will come out in 2015 (like Things we Know by Heart by Jessi Kirby, the Last Time we Say Googbye by Cynthia Hand; When by Victoria Laurie);
- some will come out later this month (This Shattered World by A. Kaufman and M. Spooner.. and I loved rereading the first book in the series);
- I finished some series (Unwind Dystology by Neal Shusterman, Daughter of Smoke and bone by L. Taylor, Blood of Eden by Julie Kagawa, Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi)
- advanced into others (The Rephanim by P. Weston and The Lunar Chronicles by M. Meyer)
