My Top Ten Underrated Authors From the Contemporary Genre

I got super excited when I saw this week's prompt because I feel like there are so many fabulous authors out there who deserve more attention.  So do yourself a favor, and read these books if you haven't already.  I promise you won't be disappointed!

As always, be sure to check out The Broke and the Bookish for more details on this awesome weekly feature.

  1. I LOVE Hannah Harrington books (although I'm not a fan of that cover of Saving June). Speechless is such a great book by her that people never seem to read/talk about. I'm also a huge fan of Melissa Walker. Small Town Sinners is one of my favorite books in a way that it is a subject that fascinates me and that I know nothing about.

    Great list G!

  2. I always trust your recommendations so I know I will be running over to Goodreads to learn more about all of these. The only two I have heard of is Breakfast Served Anytime and How To Kill a Rockstar....thanks to you! LOL!

  3. This list is a great resource for when I'm looking for a contemporary to read. I've been meaning to try one of Courtney Summer's books.

  4. So I haven't actually read any of these authors, but I guess that goes along with the underrated authors, right? I do have a John Corey Whaley book at home, thought, and a coworker was telling me I should totally check out Noggin.

  5. First of all, can I just say a big 'YES!' to Hannah Harrington? Saving June is one of my favourite contemporary roadtrip novels and I rarely, if ever, hear it mentioned. I'm definitely going to bookmark this post so I can return to it the next time I'm looking for a new contemporary book to pick up. I'm particularly intrigued by Harmonic Feedback and The Chance You Won't Return and I already own Noggin and Breakfast Served Anytime (Both purchased because of your glowing reviews) which I'll be pushing to the top of my to-be-read list :) This is a seriously great selection this week, G!

  6. I chose Speechless, but I love both of Hannah Harrington's books. I really hope that girl writes something else soon! Raw Blue made my list as well - such a powerful story. Great choices, G!
