Better off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg
To be published: February 25, 2014 by Point
For Macallan and Levi, it was friends at first sight. Everyone says guys and girls can’t be just friends, but these two are. They hang out after school, share tons of inside jokes, their families are super close, and Levi even starts dating one of Macallan’s friends. They are platonic and happy that way.
Eventually they realize they’re best friends — which wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t keep getting in each other’s way. Guys won’t ask Macallan out because they think she’s with Levi, and Levi spends too much time joking around with Macallan, and maybe not enough time with his date. They can’t help but wonder . . . are they more than friends or are they better off without making it even more complicated?
From romantic comedy superstar Elizabeth Eulberg comes a fresh, fun examination of a question for the ages: Can guys and girls ever really be just friends? Or are they always one fight away from not speaking again — and one kiss away from true love? [goodreads]
Can guys and girls be just friends?? I think this question is so interesting to investigate, and even more so in literature. And who better to do so than Elizabeth Eulberg? I loved The Lonely Hearts Club and enjoyed Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality, so you best believe this next novel by Eulberg went on my TBR list!

Oh man, that sounds ADORABLE. And really interesting. Here's what I like about it: I'm not really sure how it's going to end. I mean, she's got two viable, happy-ending options (they stay friends or they fall in love) and one potentially heart-wrenching (they try to get together but discover they really are better off friends). But I don't know! And I like not knowing. It's a present to be unwrapped. Great pick, as always.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this author, but the premise sounds so cute and fun. A teenage When Harry Met Sally...I'll be reading this one. Great pick! ~Pam
ReplyDeleteI want this so much. I generally like all of Elizabeth's books, and I don't think Better off Friends is going to be an exception!

I think this book sounds like it will be really good! And I'm really looking forward to it! Great pick! :)
ReplyDeleteThe only book of hers that I've read is The Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality, but I thought was fine and good, but it didn't make me want to read anything else by her. But this one sounds really great. Maybe it's time I gave her another chance or maybe even try The Lonely Hearts Club if you love it.
