Out of Reach by Carrie Arcos
To be published: October 16, 2012 by Simon Pulse
Sixteen year old Rachel has always idolized her older brother Micah, but she knows he also secretly struggles with addiction. So when Micah doesn’t come home one night, Rachel panics.
Then Rachel gets an anonymous note telling her that Micah is a few hours away—and on the brink of destruction. Accompanied by Micah’s best friend Tyler, Rachel sets out to find her brother. With no concrete leads, Rachel and Tyler spend hours wandering the streets. But before Rachel can move on, she must confront her own dark secrets, her growing attraction to Tyler…and the possibility that Micah may never come home. {goodreads.com}
I feel like this book has the potential to be something very raw and emotional. Some of my favorite contemporary novels are ones that dig deep and show the uglier side to life, yet presenting a piece of hope when one may not expect it. I will definitely be eager for this book come October.
"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

ReplyDeleteI also love raw and emotional stories and this one seems exactly like this! Even the cover transports this feeling...
ReplyDeleteI've had this one on my Wish List for a while. I agree about the raw, emotional aspect and I hope it has a great message for those struggling with addiction or for those who know someone who is.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick, G!

Ooooh. I hadn't heard of this one before... Definitely sounds like it has the possibility of being raw and the kind of book that I have to take breaks from, instead of my usual insane read-a-thons.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... this book sounds familiar ;) I can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm gonna read this one!
ReplyDeleteI love the cover! It's simple yet hooking. I'm really excited for this one. It sounds like a good contemporary.

Great choice! I'm excited for this one myself. Love, love, love the cover!
ReplyDeleteI've seen this one before, and I'm pretty excited for it as well. It looks really good!
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes! Beyond excited for this one. Also, I'm kind of in love with that cover. Usually the subjects fill up the cover image and I love how there's so much negative space surrounding her. It's a nice change! :)
