So remember last week when I gave y'all a glimpse inside Amy Spalding's upcoming YA cover for The Reece Malcolm List? Well today is the day to show off it's official cover!! I must say, it's very eye catching - sweet, but intriguing. Take a look for yourself & tell me what you think:
Let's discuss, shall we? I am a HUGE fan when YA covers do not put a face on the cover. Even though our characters are described to us, I still like to imagine my peeps as my own peeps inside my head. Sometimes when there is a blatant person staring back at me, it throws the whole thing off. So major props for not showing this chick's face. Second, I'm all about the type on my covers. I really, really like it when a book's title is incorporated in the image somewhere. It just adds that extra bit of creativity & sophistication. And third, COURTNEY SUMMERS BLURBS IT! Oh heck yes. I love that woman & seeing her words on the cover have pushed my desire to want to read this book over the edge.

That is a pretty great cover, and for all of the reasons that you mention. I like the cover image to reflect the story without being distracting (ie. full face that doesn't jive with how you picture the character). I like the way her journal/notebook looks like something an actual teen would doodle in. Just great. :)

ReplyDeleteI quite like this cover, which is strange because contemporary covers are very hit and miss for me. And the blurb makes me want to read this more!
