These times are hard, but they will pass...

Powerful. Amazing. Inspiring.
These are words that come to mind when I watch SafetySuit's new music video for These Times. I am honored to be a part of this artistic expression of what it means to go through a tough time, & recognizing that it will pass. Young or old, we all have those moments.

The band turned to their fans & asked us to create video footage of ourselves holding up a sign expressing our "tough time". I debated on how personal I wanted to go, but I found my experience in creating my video to be very therapeutic. When you watch the video & see my bit (I'm right around 3:02) you'll see that I mention losing my mom to cancer. Though it happened over 8 years ago, some times it still feels like it happened yesterday. Through this experience I realized how far I have come in those 8 years, and what I never thought I'd be able to say, I can finally say it now.... I will be OK.

Thank you SafetySuit for allowing me to be a part of this & thank you for creating music that has inspired me more than you know.

  13. I think your goals are great. I'm challenging myself to read more this year and to keep a journal while doing so. I haven't set a "set" amount, but I hope to clear a lot of my tbr piles. Good luck!!

  20. This song is very heart-breaking.
Personally, I want to be a doctor that will focus on Cancer that's why I'm taking a pre-med course next year. Even though I haven't lost anybody in my family to Cancer, I can still feel the pain of those who did, especially the ones who have cancer.

  21. I'm not sure what to say - the song was amazing and the video made me love it even more. The message is just so poignant - it gave me shivers.

    Thank you for sharing.

I can imagine that it was quite a hard thing to write down, my best friend died at only 18 in a car crash 10 years ago and it took me a long time to say that...I will be OK.

  22. Wow! What a beautiful song and a poignant video.

I have to admit that I'd never heard of SafetySuit before, until I started reading your blog a couple of months ago that is. Whether that's because I'm in the UK or whether it's just because I'd never come across them before, I don't know, either way though I'm definitely going to have to download some of their music. If the rest of their tunes are anything like the one featured above I feel a new fan being born!

Thank you for sharing your story with us.

Oh my god, Ginger. This is BEAUTIFUL. While I've always had a casual liking for SafetySuit, this just turned it into a love. Seriously, I CRIED!!! It's 1:15 in the morning and I'm sitting at my computer CRYING because this video was so heartbreaking and beautiful. Sniff. Time to go watch something happy now...

  24. Not available in Germany! o_o I was so looking forward to this video since you wrote about it a while back. Do you have another link to a platform that is NOT Youtube? *sniffs*

I suppose since it is a private thing I shouldn't say anything, but.. I'm very sorry for your loss. I think it is amazing to see you here, one of the rare positive people, actually, and I really had to cry when I read this post, because my mom is quite sick, and I don't have the slightest how I would survive the loss. So thank you for sharing your experiences and SafetySuit's music with the rest of us!

    All my best,
    Patricia
