Back When You Were Easier to Love
- by Emily Wing Smith
(April 28, 2011)
WHO ZAN IS: Blow-your-mind brilliant. Stop-your-heart gorgeous. Hold-your-breath clever. WHO ZAN WAS: Joy’s boyfriend. WHY JOY NEEDS HIM BACK: So she can breathe again. WHAT THAT MEANS: An elaborate road trip involving a SAAB 900, Sprite, and Barry Manilow. Oh, and Noah, Zan’s irritating-but-almost-charming ex-best friend. Original and insightful, quirky and crushing, Joy’s story is told in surprising and artfully shifting flashbacks between her life then and her life now. Exquisite craft and wry, relatable humor signal the arrival of Emily Wing Smith as a breakout talent.
Gorgeous boy? Girl on a mission? Elaborate road trip? Sign me up! This book sounds awesome & exactly what I need when wanting a fun YA contemporary novel.

I don't read many contemporary YA books, but this one does sound really cute:) And that cover is sweet and cheerful as well which makes me want to read it all the more. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteI just put this one on my to-read list too...the cover reminds me of this book: http://www.amazon.com/Then-Everything-Unraveled-Jennifer-Sturman/dp/0545087236/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1288799667&sr=1-1
